Why Church Membership?
If you're a Christian, you already know you're called to gather with God's people. The first believers were devoted to meeting together (Acts 2:42), and Hebrews warns us against "neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Heb. 10:25). Scripture is clear — you're meant to go to church.
But join one? Where's that command? Membership is nowhere directly commanded in Scripture — but it's everywhere assumed. There are commands throughout the New Testament that simply can't be obeyed apart from a real commitment to a local body of believers.
If You Don't Join a Church...
You Can't Obey Your Leaders.
Hebrews tells us to "obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls" (Heb. 13:17). But if you've never joined a church, who exactly are your leaders? Scripture assumes you know who's watching over your soul — and that they know you. That kind of relationship can't exist without real commitment to one local church.
You Can't Be Held Accountable.
In Matthew 18, Jesus describes a pattern of loving accountability — pursuing someone in their sin until, if needed, you "tell it to the church" (Matt. 18:17). Which church would you tell? Which church would lovingly come after you if you started drifting from Jesus? If you can't answer that, you haven't yet experienced the care Jesus designed the church to give.
You Can't Experience the New Testament's Love.
The Christian life was never meant to be a life of casual acquaintances. Paul describes a family bearing with one another "in all humility and gentleness, with patience" (Eph. 4:2). Who have you committed to bear with, even in their sin? Who has committed to bear with you? Membership simply names, out loud, the people who've agreed to walk that road with you.
Who Can Join Aletheia?
Anyone can. Jesus is building his church from every nation, tribe, and tongue, and we want Aletheia to reflect that. We invite anyone who shares a common life, a common doctrine, and a common commitment to join us.
A common life means you've been made new by Jesus — you know yourself to be a sinner in need of grace, and you've found that grace in Christ. A common doctrine means you hold to the same core convictions about who God is and what he's done; you can read more on our What We Believe page. And a common commitment means you're ready to obey Jesus alongside this particular body of believers — not perfectly, but faithfully.

Table Class
Table Class is where you'll learn who we are, what we believe, and how we hope to help each other treasure Jesus together. Attending doesn't commit you to membership — it's simply the first step. Classes are offered periodically throughout the year.
